Commenced trading activities as Trinidad Flour Mills Limited

NFM Limited was incorporated. Majority of the issued share capital was held by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and minority by Intercontinental Grains and Maple Leaf Ltd.

1983
1983

NFM acquired Trinidad Grain Terminal Limited and began the sale of bulk corn and soyabean meal to animal manufacturers.

1984

NFM took over the management of the operations of National Feed Mill Limited and in 1987; this company became a wholly owned subsidiary of NFM. National Feed Mill Limited was engaged in the manufacture and sale of animal, poultry and specialty feeds.

NFM leased the local rice milling operation at Carlsen Field from the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1990, ownership of the Rice Mill was transferred to NFM and in 1995, the land at Carlsen Field was granted to NFM.

NFM commissioned an integrated Soyabean Complex, which produced soyabean meal and crude, refined and hydrogenated soyabean oils together with bottled oil. Operations at this facility were discontinued in 2006.

NFM increased its on-site storage capacity by an additional 25,000 metric tonnes with the construction of additional concrete silos.

NFM commissioned a ship unloading/loading facility resulting in substantial cost savings in the handling of grain imports.

1995
1995

NFM became a Public Limited Liability Company when its shares were listed on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.

NFM became ISO Certified.

1999

A new state of the art Feed Milling Plant was established and incorporated into the operations of NFM Limited.

NFM acquired the dry mix operations of Nabisco Royale Inc. The entire Lion Brand and Royal Brand product portfolio was acquired.

NFM acquired HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Certification.

NFM commissioned its new state of the art 400MT capacity flour mill which was in operation for over 35 years.

Launched Command Performance dog and puppy food to all supermarkets, pet shops and feed depots nationwide.

NFM completed phase 1 of the upgrade of its extruder to enhance output and product quality of extruded feed.

NFM was ranked 348th in size and the 171st most profitable in a global market study of the top 500 largest grain mill product manufacturers in the world. It was also ranked “outstanding performance” in three categories.

NFM was awarded an (A-) credit rating by CariCRIS, second only to Energy Sector Companies.

NFM was nominated for manufacturer of the year 2014 in the large company category of TTMA’s Manufacturer of the Year Award.
